auDA Shows Us All How To Profit!

Given our domain name, this is a very apt article.

This cash grab by auDA in relation to direct registration (the ability to register yourname.au) is beyond ridiculous in my opinion.

Look at all the registrants that have applied for the right to register business.au.

As there are multiple applicants, no one will get the domain. Yet auDA and Afilias will collect “application fees” from all of them.

Direct registration is a good thing for a lot of people and businesses, but surely there has to be a better and fairer way for a membership organisation to allocate the .au domain? This in my opinion is no more than profiteering.

P.S. Thanks to the person who forwarded this info to me. Lots of other examples too.
