The Power and Benefits of Blogging

Many businesses might scoff at the idea of blogging in today’s fast-paced digital world. After all, haven’t social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok rendered lengthy blog posts obsolete?

Think again.

One of the people that I follow on LinkedIn is marketing guru Neil Patel. He creates daily posts that you can read or watch or both.

His most recent post really caught my attention because it was about blogging.

According to a recent survey his firm did, they found that blogging is alive and kicking.

Whilst I appreciate that his research was predominately overseas based, I believe the same principles could apply to blogging in Australia.

Here’s the money quote from Neil

Some verticals generate more income than others but there was one clear winner.

Blogs that focus on B2B over B2C on average generated 191% more income even though their traffic on average was 388% lower per month.

So why Blog?

  • Establish yourself as an authority: Share your expertise and insights on industry-related topics, positioning your business as a trusted source of information.
  • Boost SEO: Well-written, keyword-rich blog posts can significantly improve your website’s search ranking, driving more organic traffic your way.
  • Targeted marketing: Whether you’re a baker specialising in Lamingtons or a travel blogger focusing on eco-friendly getaways in Oz, you can tailor your content to resonate with a specific audience.
  • Build relationships: I have blogged for years about domain names, and through doing that I have gained both friends and clients.
  • Monetisation: Blogs aren’t just about information; they’re also powerful conversion tools. By providing valuable content that informs and educates, you build trust with your audience, making them more receptive to your calls to action. I have lost count of the number of domain names sold via my various blogs!

It all begins with a domain name

Investing in a good domain name is the first step towards building a successful blog.

“Good” can mean different things to different people, but what definitely helps is commonsense! Choose a name that is meaningful or relevant to your subject matter – or, make it funny or memorable.

Keywords can definitely help.

Imagine if you wanted to earn money from a blog about “Gadgets”. A domain name like Gadgets.com.au is just perfect. Very easy to monetise.

Or if you lived in Darwin or the Northern Territory and had some good local knowledge that you wanted to share, then a site like Darwin.au would be just the best.

So, what are you waiting for? Start blogging today and watch your business flourish!
